Developed for the Municipality of Coruche, this card game celebrates the unique montado ecosystem and its biodiversity.
The montado is a Mediterranean ecosystem shaped by humans, where cork oaks and holm oaks coexist with grazing. It is a multifunctional system that combines cork, timber, and pasture production with biodiversity conservation.
In this tableau-building card game with hand management, each player takes on the role of a guardian of an ecosystem, selecting and combining fauna and flora cards to create a balanced habitat.
On each turn, players choose available species and place them strategically in their territory, respecting natural food chains: each animal can only be introduced if its food source is already present in the ecosystem.
The challenge lies in balancing the needs of each species while maximizing points through your cards and shared objectives, represented by different professions that value specific aspects of your ecosystem.
Simple rules, deep decisions: the winner is the one who creates the highest-scoring and most sustainable ecosystem.
Developed for the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation on the Sustainable Development Goals, these card games focus on the implementation of measures and policies to achieve them.
Our planet faces enormous economic, social, and environmental challenges. The United Nations has called upon the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, a global effort to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, and protect the planet by addressing climate change.
In ODS: Jogo de Cartas, each player takes on the role of a world leader who must make crucial policy decisions to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Players must acquire Decision Cards and attach them to corresponding Issue Cards in order to resolve them and earn progress points.
On their turn, a player may perform two actions chosen from the following: a) Draw a card from the Decisions display, possibly optimizing their choice to gain extra cards. b) Buy a card from the Issues display.
When an Issue has three attached Decision Cards, it is considered resolved and will be worth 5 points at the end of the game.
There are also Goal Cards, which may grant additional points during or at the end of the game.
