Card game
A card game about the biodiversity of the montado, created for the Municipality of Coruche. Each player looks after an ecosystem and chooses, card by card, the species of fauna and flora that make it richer and more balanced.
The theme
The montado is a Mediterranean ecosystem shaped by people, where cork oaks and holm oaks coexist with grazing livestock. It combines the production of cork, timber and pasture with the conservation of biodiversity.
In Montado, that balance comes to the table: the theme is in the rules, not stuck on top.
The goal
Create the richest and most balanced montado. The challenge lies in reconciling the needs of each species with the points on the cards and the end-of-game goals.

The game
A tableau-building card game with hand management.
Each player takes on the role of guardian of an ecosystem and builds their own montado.
Each turn, players choose from the available species and, in certain situations, place them strategically in the territory.
An animal can only enter if its food source is already in the ecosystem.
A player can only play when they have six or more cards in hand and, at that point, they must do so.
End-of-game goals are represented by professions that reward specific aspects of the ecosystem.
The winner is the player who builds the highest-scoring, most sustainable ecosystem.
